Ready to Schedule Your Move?
When it comes to moving your home, you need a trusted partner who understands that your belongings are more than just items – they're memories, investments, and treasures. At Maloney's Moving LLC, family-owned and operated since 2023 — built on 22+ years of professional moving experience, we provide comprehensive residential moving services that take the stress out of relocation.
Who We Move
Maloney's Moving LLC serves all residential property types throughout South Jersey. Whether the move involves a studio apartment, a multi-floor condo, a townhome, a row home, a single-family house, or a large colonial home — the crew arrives with the same level of preparation and professionalism. High-rise buildings in Cherry Hill, Camden, and Atlantic City are handled with full building coordination included.
Many South Jersey apartment complexes and condo associations require advance elevator reservations, proof of insurance certificates, and specific move-in and move-out time windows. Maloney's Moving handles all of this coordination on the customer's behalf — contacting building management, submitting certificates of insurance, and scheduling elevator access so that nothing delays the move on the day it matters most.
Our Equipment
Every piece of equipment carried on a Maloney's Moving truck serves a specific purpose. This is what separates a professional moving crew from a pickup truck and a few helpers.
Appliance dollies are heavy-duty upright dollies fitted with rubber straps designed for refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other large appliances. The rubber straps secure the appliance to the dolly frame, keeping the center of gravity controlled while the crew navigates tight hallways, narrow doorways, and staircases. On stairs, the straps prevent the appliance from shifting while the crew controls the descent one step at a time — protecting both the item and every wall and floor surface it passes.
Furniture dollies are flat platform dollies used for dressers, bed frames, and sectional sofas. Weight is distributed evenly across four wheels, which prevents concentrated pressure on any one point of the floor surface beneath it. This protects hardwood, tile, and laminate flooring from dents and scratches that occur when heavy furniture is dragged or carried by hand.
Moving blankets are used on every single piece of furniture before it leaves the room. The padding process covers all exposed wood surfaces, glass panels, and fabric upholstery to prevent scratches, chips, and stains during loading, transit, and unloading. Every Maloney's Moving truck carries a minimum of 50 heavy-duty blankets per load.
Shrink wrap is applied directly over moving blankets to keep the padding locked in place. It also prevents drawers and cabinet doors from opening during loading, transit, and unloading — a common cause of damage when furniture shifts inside the truck.
Floor runners are rubber-backed protective runners placed on hardwood, tile, and carpet at both the origin and destination before a single item is moved. This matters especially for South Jersey colonial homes with original hardwood flooring, where a single scuff from a heavy dresser can require professional floor refinishing.
Stair rollers are specialized equipment for safely moving heavy items down staircases without dragging or tipping. These are critical for South Jersey townhomes and multi-story colonials where every piece of heavy furniture must navigate at least one full flight of stairs.
Corner guards and door frame protectors — foam and cardboard protection installed on every doorway and corner before any furniture passes through. This prevents wall damage and paint scraping on tight doorframes, which is one of the most common types of property damage during a move.
Fragile and Specialty Item Handling
Fragile items require specific handling procedures — not just extra care, but specific techniques for each item type.
China cabinets and hutches — glass panels are removed from the frame, individually wrapped in packing paper and bubble wrap, and transported separately from the cabinet body. The cabinet frame receives corner protection and a full blanket wrap. Both pieces are loaded and unloaded as separate items to eliminate any risk of glass cracking from frame vibration during transit.
Mirrors and artwork are wrapped in mirror boxes or custom-cut cardboard and stored vertically in the truck at all times. They are never laid flat. Vertical storage prevents cracking from the weight of other items and road vibration that concentrates pressure on flat-stored glass.
Antiques and heirlooms receive extra padding layers, are never stacked under other items, and are positioned last into the truck so they are the first items off at the destination — minimizing their total time in transit.
Glass dining tables are fully disassembled. The glass top is wrapped separately in moving blankets with edge protection. The table base is padded and loaded as a separate item. Both pieces are reassembled at the destination.
Large TVs are wrapped in moving blankets and loaded vertically against the truck wall, never flat. Flat loading creates pressure points that crack LCD and OLED panels during transit — a mistake that costs homeowners hundreds of dollars when done incorrectly.
How to Plan a Move in South Jersey
Planning ahead makes the difference between a smooth move and a stressful one. Here is practical guidance specific to South Jersey conditions:
- Book 2–4 weeks in advance for most moves. Spring and summer moves (May through September) fill fast across South Jersey — book 4–6 weeks out during peak season.
- Notify building management or HOA as soon as the move date is confirmed to reserve elevators and secure move-in and move-out time slots.
- Confirm parking access for a 26-foot box truck at both origin and destination. Narrow streets in Haddonfield and Collingswood may require street permits from the borough.
- Disconnect appliances at least 24 hours before move day. Refrigerators need to be defrosted. Washing machines need water lines disconnected and drained.
- Clear a path from every room to the front door before the crew arrives. Remove area rugs that could slide and clear hallway furniture that would slow down the loading process.
- Label every box with the destination room, not just the contents. This tells the crew exactly where each box goes without the customer having to direct traffic all day.
South Jersey Specific Challenges
Residential moves in South Jersey come with conditions that generic moving companies from out of the area may not anticipate:
- Narrow historic streets in Haddonfield, Collingswood, and Woodbury require smaller equipment staging areas and careful truck positioning to avoid blocking traffic or damaging parked vehicles.
- High-rise condos in Cherry Hill, Voorhees, and Atlantic City require building management coordination, certificate of insurance submission, and elevator time reservations — all handled by Maloney's Moving before move day.
- Townhome complexes throughout Gloucester and Camden County often have stairwell-only access with no elevator. Every item goes up or down stairs, which requires proper equipment and crew training.
- Colonial homes common in Burlington County have tight staircases and low ceiling clearances that require specific furniture maneuvering techniques to avoid wall and ceiling damage.
- New construction communities in Washington Township and Woolwich often have HOA move-in restrictions including specific time windows and contractor registration requirements.
